Exercise Physiology

Exercise Physiology is a specialised allied health therapy involving the design, delivery and evaluation of safe and effective exercise interventions for people with acute, sub-acute or chronic medical conditions, injuries or disabilities.

Support, educate & empower

Our Exercise Physiologists journey with clients to support, educate, and empower each individual to:

•  Improve quality of life
•  Achieve their personal goals
•  Improve self-management of their neurological condition.

The Neuro Practice offers:

•  Community gym integration and programming
•  Hydrotherapy and pool therapy programming
•  In-clinic programming

Community gym integration and programming

Accessing community-based gyms can be difficult and overwhelming. Our Exercise Physiologists support clients in accessing community gym and can also provide carer training to assist clients in reaching their goals. Our Exercise Physiologists can meet clients at their chosen community gym and will initially complete assessments on current strength and fitness levels. They will then prescribe a goal-orientated clinical exercise program and guide you through the supported program. Ongoing progression and alteration of the program will be encouraged as the client’s goals are achieved or change over time.

Hydrotherapy and pool therapy programming

With the support of our Exercise Physiologist, we can aid you in exploring water-based therapies in the community. People with all levels of ability generally tolerate water-based therapy well and it has associated health benefits such as reducing falls risk, improving balance, increasing muscle strength and cardiovascular fitness. Our Exercise Physiologists can meet you at your chosen local leisure center, indoor or outdoor pool; warm or cool, and support you through reaching your goals and improving your functional capacity. Our team can aid you in implementing an independent program, support worker assisted program or ongoing programing with our Exercise Physiologist tailored to your goals and aspirations.

In-clinic programming

In the our beautiful historical building our Exercise Physiologist’s have private 1:1 therapy spaces whereby they can tailor strength and functional training sessions to suit the clients’ needs. The Exercise Physiologist will initially assess your functional abilities, strength and fitness levels and implement goal orientated sessions and if desired develop home exercise programs, to support you in attaining your goals. With ongoing support, progression and alteration to suit your goals and functional ability.
